Día de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos (translates to Day of the Dead in English) is a traditional Mexican holiday which celebrates friends and family who have passed away. Festivities begin October 31st and continue until November 2nd. Día de los Muertos celebrates the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. It is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit loved ones and join in on the celebration. The most noted symbol of the holiday are the painted calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls) which can be found in decorations, food and painted on faces. The celebration of Día de los Muertos has gained popularity around the world, particularly among Californians. We love the new twist on Halloween with bright colors and yummy food!

I packed up my beach blanket and we spent a relaxing day out enjoying the sunshine. We walked down the Oceansfront Boardwalk from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach, stopping to enjoy some sherbet and snow cones. We strolled down Crystal Pier and admired the adorable little white beach cottages that sit above the water.Read More
There's few things that can cue the water works faster than an empty apartment filled with memories. These photos are from one of our last days in our studio apartment in the city. After several months of debating, we decided to pack up everything and move out of San Francisco. The decision was not easy, San Francisco is such a beautiful city and we have so many friends and family in the area. Ultimately the decision came down to our long term goals of being homeowners.Read More
We had such an adventurous spirit this past year and so many of these pictures are from the best moments in 2016. I searched for the goofiest, most candid and sometimes awkward pictures for this blooper reel. When my boyfriend and I take photos for the blog, there's so much ridiculousness that happens behind the scenes.Read More
The weather has turned chilly in San Francisco and there is no doubt that winter is here. Along with all the beautiful holiday lights and merriment of the season unfortunately also comes flu-season (ugh!). In my eagerness to feel like my old self again, my morning routine now includes my neti pot, a hot cup of tea, a hearty and healthy breakfast and a spoonful of Equilibrium Energy Superfood.Read More
This one goes out to all my fellow children of "Pumpkin Land", a.k.a. Half Moon Bay. This small coastal town located south of San Francisco has completely dedicated itself to harvest season and more specifically, the pumpkin. This adopted town symbol comes from Half Moon Bay's history of growing produce and its warm Indian Summers. Driving into town on Highway 92 you will see fields of pumpkin patches, haystacks, pony rides and even the occasional scarecrow.Read More

This past April I wrote a blog post for Schoola.com about reusing K-Cups for Earth Day. Many people enjoy their morning coffee or tea from their Keurig machine but you may not realize how harmful K-Cups are to the environment. The construction of the cup with filter layers and coffee grounds make them very difficult to recycle. Separating out all the contents of the cups is time consuming and most people just end up tossing them in the garbage.Read More

It was a gorgeous sun soaked Sunday afternoon in San Francisco and the perfect day for some DIY fun. I live in downtown SF which is essentially a concrete jungle with few signs of nature near by. Adding some green to our apartment was one of the first items on my checklist when we moved in because it instantly brightens up a room. Since we are limited on space with urban living, tiny terrariums are the perfect space savers in addition to being too cute to resist!Read More
