Guide to the Most Colorful Murals in Sacramento, California
Here Comes the Sun Mural - Located in the alley behind the ONYX Midtown condo complex at 1818 X Street.
Sacramento is an especially colorful city with Insta-worthy murals scattered all over our favorite neighborhoods. We can thank the curation efforts of Wide Open Walls, an organization that commissions world-famous mural artists to come paint the walls of Sacramento.
This blog post is a collection of my favorite Sacramento murals. I especially love that so many of these murals are painted by women and they have such a sweet feminine esthetic. Most these murals are located in popular areas in Sacramento to eat out and hang with friends. Next to each mural I’ll give a few suggestions on things to do and see in that neighborhood.
In this mural guide you can hover over each image to see the full description and location of each mural. Some of them are located on Wide Open Walls Mural Map and I’ve put the link in a button next to the photo. By the way, many of these murals don’t have names (or I can’t find the name) so I give them by own descriptive name for reference.

Sunset Circle Mural By Micah Crandall-Bear
This mural reminds me of an abstract sunset in a large circle and is located at 730 R St in Sacramento. In this same alley you’ll also find the Miles Toland It Was Only a Dream Mural.
These murals are in Sacramento’s R District which is a big hotspot in Midtown. Highlights include Ice Blocks, Fox & Goose Public House and South.
East Sac Tyson Anthony Roberts Mural
This popular floral mural was painted by Tyson Anthony Roberts and is located in the parking lot of restaurant Canon. Located at 1719 34th St, Sacramento.
Canon is a very popular lunch and brunch spot in Sacramento. Next door is the SacYard Beer Garden and down the street is Hawk’s Public House.
We Are All in it Together Mural by LC Studio Tutto
This very bright and colorful mural reads “We are all in it together” and is super large in scale. Conveniently located a block away from the popular Ice Blocks Shopping Center on R Street, it’s a great place to take photos after lunch. The exact address is 1608 Q St in Quill Alley.
Across the street you’ll also find Mendocino Farms, Shake Shack and Curry Up Now.
Sunday Vibes By Jillian Evelyn
One of my all-time favorite murals in Sacramento is Sunday Vibes by famous feminist artist Jillian Evelyn. Her aesthetic is so modern and feminine. You can find it on the Sacramento State campus at the Lassen Hall building.
Kinetik Ideas Ray of Light in the Jungle
The artist is Kinetik Ideas and it’s located at R St and 12th St in Midtown. This mural is conveniently adjacent to the WALL Public Market where you’ll find Camellia Coffee Roasters and Fish Face Poke Bar.
Fox Mural By Alegria del Prado
Right next to the Ray of Light in the Jungle mural is this adorable Fox Mural. I love the color combinations and boho vibes from this mural. It photographs very well, you can see two examples in this blog post from our photo session. It’s also located at R St and 12th St in Midtown.
Kaleidoscopes and Colors by Jose Di Gregorio
This very colorful mural by Jose Di Gregorio really makes a bold statement. This mural is inside the Beatnik Studios parking lot at 723 S St, Sacramento.
Being that this mural is on S Street, you’re just a block away from the R District. You’re walking distance to popular vegan restaurant Plant Power Fast Food and Mochinut.
Dandelion Wishing Wall By Maren Conrad
The Dandelion Wishing Wall was painted by artist is Maren Conrad and you can find it on 19th St, between H and I St.
Some of my favorite eats in this area of Midtown are Jack’s Urban Eats, Zocalo and Fieldwork Brewing Company.
Farm 2 Fork Capital Mural By Kinetik Ideas
This colorful vegetable mural is very large in scale. I have four photos of this mural in this blog post. It’s located at C St & 14th St in Downtown Sacramento. Painted by Kinetik Ideas.
This mural is located in a very industrial area and there’s nothing noteworthy around these blocks. You would have to make a deliberate trip to this mural for photos.
Mansion Flats Mural in Goodside Coffee
This is one of the few large murals in Sacramento located indoors. Mansion Flats is a trendy neighborhood located close to Midtown. Goodside Coffee is a recently opened coffee shop which is super cute and Insta-worthy. Check it out at 1430 H St in Sacramento.

Here Comes the Sun Mural By Haley Titus of Colour Me Classic and Jeremy Stranger of Stranger Projects
This cheerful mural is one of the newest ones in Sacramento. I have several photos in this blog post we took at this mural, my friends and I couldn’t get enough of it! This was a mural collaboration between Haley Titus of Colour Me Classic and Jeremy Stranger of Stranger Projects. You’ll find this mural in the alley behind the ONYX Midtown condo complex at 1818 X Street.
Most of the area surrounding this mural is residencial but close by you’ll find Delta Hand Pies and New Helvetia Brewing Company.
Sweet Dream Mural By Stephen Bauer
This mural is super large and I have 4 photos in this blog post in front of a small portion of it. It’s located on 25th Street between J St and K St. The artist is Stephen Bauer.
J Street is a main strip in Midtown Sacramento and there’s lots of trendy and global cuisine restaurants in the area. I love the curry from Thai Basil which is right by this mural.
Maren Conrad Koi Fish Mural
This enormous mural depicts a serene koi fish and bubbles scene. It’s located on the back of the MARRS building at 1050 20th Street in Midtown.
Inside MARRS (Midtown Art Retail Restaurant Scene) you’ll find Lowbrau, Peet’s Coffee and Azul Mexican Bar.
Jessie & Katey Mural
This colorful and abstract mural is located on the outside wall of trendy weed shop Nug at 1918 16th St in Sacramento.
Just a couple blocks away from the R District with the Ice Blocks trendy shopping center, you can walk to Beast + Bounty and Milk Money.
John Horton Mural
In this photo you see a small portion of a huge mural by John Horton. Located in Midtown at 2020 I St. Scroll down in this blog post to see the full wall.
There’s two Sacramento famous coffee shops walking distance from this mural - The Mill Midtown and Old Soul at The Weatherstone.
S-A-C-R A-M-E-N-T-O Alumni Mural
The S-A-C-R A-M-E-N-T-O Alumni Mural is located inside Sac State Campus and is a collaborative effort between several local artists. Raphael Delgado is credited for organizing and making this mural happen. You can find it on the side of Shasta Hall.
Tavar Zawacki Mural
As you’re driving through Downtown Sacramento, you can’t miss this colorful mural on the side of an enormous building. Located at 921 11th Street.
This building is right in the heart of downtown with restaurants Nash & Proper and Prelude Kitchen just a few blocks away.
Starfighter Mural
I took this photo when I was 36 weeks pregnant and baby was the size of a pineapple. I was standing at the bottom of the huge Starfighter Mural located at 1120 7th St in Downtown Sacramento.
This mural is right next to DOCO Downtown Commons. In DOCO you’ll find Punch Bowl Social and another mural. The Kristin Farr Mural is located in the DOCO Plaza.
Flower Mural at Freeport Bakery
Most of the murals in this guide are located in Midtown and Downtown. This sunny and cheerful mural is in Land Park on the Freeport Bakery building.
Right next door you’ll find the coffee shop Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters. On the other side you’ll find Dad’s Kitchen burger joint.
Float By Nate Frizzell
The whimsical mural named Float by artist Nate Frizzell can be found near the intersection of K St and 20th St in Midtown.
Not far from this mural you’ll find Lowbrau and the Midtown Farmer’s Market which takes place every Saturday.
Add Fuel WAL Public Market Mural
The ADD FUEL vertical mural stands 3 stories tall outside the WAL Public Market on R St in Midtown.
Inside the indoor market you’ll find Camelia Coffee Roasters, vintage shopping and art galleries.
Ilse Valfre Mural
Located at 1815 K St, the Ilse Valfre Mural is on the back of The Porch Farm to Fork restaurant. Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates and Patisserie is on the next block over.
Michelle Obama By Maren Conrad
Our favorite First Lady is located at Uptown Market located at 1409 Del Paso Blvd in Sacramento.
