I'm on a boat! On a yacht to be exact :) Now that we are officially out of winter it's time to enjoy some blue water and sunshine skies. On a lovely Sunday afternoon we headed out to Sausalito to board the yacht Glory Days and sail around the San Francisco Bay. During our nautical trip we journeyed under the Golden Gate Bridge and looped around to Alcatraz. The view of the bridge from the water is stunning, best seat in the house. Want to plan your own day of sailing? Check out Discover Boating and book a romantic date with that special someone or have a gal pal outing with your bestie. You can discover so many new spots that offer deals on boat rentals for fun day trips!
The California Spring Bucket List
California is the place to be in the springtime! While other states are still experiencing snow and rain, we have plenty of gorgeous sunny days. Whether you're a Cali local or coming to visit us, these top 10 Spring spots and activities are perfect to add to your itinerary. Spoiler alerts, it's all about the FLOWERS in the Spring! 🌷🌸🌻
Sailing in Sausalito - As you can see from the photos in this blog post, sailing around the San Francisco Bay is an awesome way to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Make sure to make a day of it, after chilling on the bay you can cruise around the oh so charming city of Sausalito and grab a bite to eat. Locals love to brunch at trendy spots like Le Garage and Cibo.
Picnic in Alston Park - Everybody loves a picnic in the spring but then add some stunning Napa Valley vineyards views and you're on a whole new level. At Alston Park you can set up your picnic on top of a hill with panoramic views of world famous wine country.
Plant a garden - Let me just start by saying I LOVE plants, they automatically make everything feel welcoming and cheerful. One of the biggest perks of moving from an apartment in San Francisco to a house San Diego was our new big backyard. I've started a garden full of veggies and it's coming along very nicely (my radishes are on fire!). As a fun and eco friendly DIY project, I like to reuse K-Cups as seed starters before I transfer my little plants to larger pots.
Visit the flower fields - Before I moved to San Diego I had been hearing about the Carlsbad flower fields for over a year. And now I am super excited that I live close enough to actually go and visit them in-person. These fields are stunning, the blooms are so bright and colorful. Nothing says spring more than thousands of flowers!
Pick fresh berries - Tucked away in the small coastal town of Davenport, Ca you can find Swanton Berry Farm. This cute little spot is one of the few places where you can pick your own berries to take home. Last year we had so much fun and our fresh picked strawberries were so sweet and juicy!
The Conservatory of Flowers - You can never see too many flowers in the Spring and San Francisco's Conservatory of Flowers gives you a fun experience of walking through a tropical oasis filled with exotic blooms. Afterwards you can explore all the sights in Golden Gate Park.
Thrift shop for some new floral faves - One of the best parts about a new season is getting to change up your wardrobe and add some fresh finds. To make room for new duds first do some spring cleaning in your closet. Floral prints are definitely one of my favorite Spring styles, they add some spring to your step! I am a huge thrifter and the majority of my clothes have been gems I found thrifting. This floral dress from a photo shoot last year was an awesome vintage find from online thrift shop Swap and I can't wait to wear it again soon.
Old Town, San Diego - Enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine and a fresh strawberry margarita while taking in all the bright colors in Old Town. You can shop Mexican artisan goods and even pick up a paper flower bouquet.
Wine tasting at Chateau Montelena - If you're out visiting the Napa Valley area the Chateau is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. The estate's grounds include rolling hills with vineyards and a reservoir filled with swans and willow tress. To prep for your trip watch the film Bottle Shock based on the winery, it will give you a great historical frame of reference and make your trip even more memorable.
Filoli House and Gardens - I am such a sucker for beautiful gardens and Filoli takes the cake for most stunning gardens in Northern California. Hidden away in Woodside, Ca, this is one of my favorite places to visit because it feels like you're stepping into a real life scene from Alice in Wonderland. The mansion and estate have been preserved to maintain its historical authenticity and grandeur, a must-see for Spring!
