As the San Francisco Blog Ambassador for Colabination, I have worked with many of our brands and I love the unique stories behind the design inspirations. When the apparel design company Arm the Animals joined the site I immediately felt a kindred spirit and wanted to get involved. We share the same passion of working towards the cause of animal rescue. This topic is a very personal one to myself and many because of the close connection we have with our pets. I have grown up in a household where our dogs are part of the family and many of them have been rescues from the Humane Society.
I personally struggle with the topic of animal rescue because of the emotions it stirs up. Awareness is very important but it is difficult to discuss what happens to abused animals. We know these terrible things are happening and we often feel so helpless to save them. There is never any excuse for animal cruelty or neglect and there is not enough consequence for those committing these crimes. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel because there are so many of us who feel passionate about rescue and take great care of our furry friends. We need to band together and let society know that we will not tolerate any mistreatment of animals.
Arm the Animals has found a way to give you an opportunity to be a part of the solution while also indulging in some guilt free shopping. Bringing the worlds of fashion and animal rescue together is a win-win. When my tees arrived in the mail the first thing I noticed was how incredibly soft and comfortable they were. Not only was I supporting a cause I truly believe in but I was really looking forward to sporting their designs. Arm the Animals makes the type of tees that you immediately pick first from your closet because they are just so damn comfortable!
My partners in crime and I hit the streets of the Design District in San Francisco to shoot my new loot. Sporting my Giants cap and SF made Levis, we showed off how we style our Arm the Animals tees. My five year-old Pit bull and Labrador mix Holly is always along for the ride and ready for her close up. We adopted her from the Humane Society four years ago and she has been the most loyal and very goofy best friend.
Every person can make a difference by considering adopting a pet when they are able to take on the responsibility. You will never realize the impact an animal can have on your life until you open up your heart and home. If you decide to adopt an animal, you make the commitment to care for them for the remainder of their life. It will be the most rewarding experience you’ve ever had.
Mahatma Gandhi said it best: “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
