I have recently been exposed to the complex world of hardcore sneaker heads (stay tuned for more!) and while I do not fall under that category, I definitely have an appreciation for a sneaker with style. Last Christmas I received two pairs of Nike FREE 4.0 Flyknit and they are by far my absolute favorite pairs of shoes. These two pairs were the beginning of my single-minded obsession with Nike. These kicks are so sleek and comfortable, I immediately want to jump up in the air when I put them on because of the lift they put in my step. I have one pair of just black with white soles which I sport mostly with street wear. The second pair is a mix of electric pink and dove gray which s a killer colorway combo. They are mostly indoor gym shoes because they make any outfit look athletically fierce but I will style with street wear when I'm feeling particularly colorful. Check out both styles in my Arm the Animals photo shoot here!
I am not a high heel type of gal, I am already 5' 8" tall standing barefoot so when I wear heels I am easily over 6 feet tall. I enjoy comfort and being able to walk quickly anywhere with ease. I would wear sneakers out to formal events if I could, seriously! While NikeiD has been around for some time, I just recently discovered how awesome it is. I decided to spoil myself for my birthday and invest in a custom pair. With NikeiD you can build your shoe from the ground up, selecting your own color combinations, patterns, rubber styles and even custom words. I went with the old school inspired Nike Internationalist Prime Fleece iD which launched on September 8th, 2015, one day before my birthday! As you can see in the photos, I branded my shoes with my namesake. For the color palette I went with a sleek neutral colorway of black, gray and white with accents of gold metallic. I wanted to be able to style them with all kinds of street clothes and have them easily transition between seasons.
We took to the beach on a sun drenched fall day in Santa Cruz, California to capture some style pics. I outfitted my NikeiD Internationalist kicks with the Knot Sister’s Valley Tunic dress I picked up at boutique Urbanization in San Carlos, California. Two of my favorite brands, each with their own distinct aesthetic, bring you this sporty meets feminine boho look.
