I grew up in Half Moon Bay, Ca which boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Northern California. The coast is known for it's foggy and overcast weather and sadly warm sunny days are few and far between. But when that sunny day comes, the beach views are absolutely gorgeous. The Coastal Trail runs over 11 miles along the coast line and provides spectacular cliff views. You can find a great spot on the sand to set up a picnic and relax. The water is too cold for swimming without a wet suit, but you can still dip your toes into the tide to feel some salt water on your skin.
There's a vast array of wildlife on the coast ranging from large sea mammals to small tide pool creatures. In my years growing up on the coast, I've been lucky enough to see dolphins, humpback whales, sharks, harbor seals, sea lions, jelly fish and lots of other little critters. If you're visiting the coast, a great place to explore wildlife is the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.
Back in April, I spent a gorgeous sunny weekend in Half Moon Bay and I made out like a bandit with some great photographs. Check out some of my favorite beach time pics!
