Hiking on warm sunny days is one of my all time favorite things to do! It's a rewarding way to get your cardio in and you from time to time you need a break from the gym.
If you happen to be in the Belmont area and you're looking for a beautiful way to spend the afternoon, I highly recommend the Water Dog Lake Trail. The trail has beautiful views and a small lake inhabited by ducks, turtles and giant frogs. We did the entire loop in less than 3 hours but it was still challenging with some steep inclines. We packed a picnic lunch of avocado and tomato on whole wheat sandwiches and munched on the dock of the lake :)
The trail is dog friendly but be aware of ticks. I had to pull a few of them out of Holly after a previous hike in this area.
Pack your sunscreen and hit the trail!
