If I was Maria signing with the Von Trap family, New York in Fall would be on my list of my favorite things. Living in California we don't have such distinct changing of the seasons so getting to experience autumn in full bloom is a beautiful sight. The Fall colors vibrate against the background of the metropolitan city streets, skylines and red brick brownstones. Central park is as spectacular a sight, so full of colorful foliage.
The seasons will be forever changing, even when sometimes we are not ready for it. The day I began putting this post together I spoke with my family and received some heart breaking news. I have been on the road travelling for the last week and during this time my beloved dog Megan has passed away. Words cannot describe how saddened I am, my dogs mean the world to me and I hold them so close to my heart. Megan had a full life, she would've been 12 years old in December which is more than you can ask for with a dog her size. But even when you know it's time to say goodbye, it doesn't make it any easier. She was such a majestic dog with her Rhodesian Ridgeback features but always so goofy and playful. She was always cruising around the house looking for someone to play with and some food to sneak! I remember the day in January 2004 when she came home for the first time as a small puppy. I was a senior in high school and I would ride around with her sitting in a basket in my car. I have so many memories of Megan, she had so much character and poise making her entirely unforgettable.
Having a pet you love so much is the most rewarding experience. There is nothing in this world that compares to the unconditional love from your dog. But sadly our animals live much shorter lives than us and it never gets easier when you lose them. I dedicate this post to our Megan. Below is the last picture I took of Megan as she was poking her head outside to see what was happening. She always knew how to pose for a photo and her eyes were always so full of expression. She will live forever with us in memory.
